شرحنا في الدرس السابق ( Possessive pronouns )

We use the possessive case to express possession.

نستخدم حالة المُلكية للتعبير عن التملك.

Singular nouns take 's. 

اسم المُفرد يأخذ s' الملكية.

الأمثلة::

This is the girl's bag.

This is Tom's car.

Regular plural nouns take'. 

اسم الجمع المنتظم يأخذ فاصلة ' فقط بدون s لأنه أصلا ينتهي بـ s
مثال:

That's my parents' house.

Irregular plural nouns take's. 

اسم الجمع الشاذ (غير منتظم) ينتهي بـ s' الملكية.

مثال:

Here's the children's room.

When two or more people own the same thing, we add ’s only to the last owner.

عندما يمتلك شخصان أو أكثر نفس الشيء، نضيف s' إلى آخر مالك.

مثال:

This is Saleh and Malik's flat.

When two or more people own two or more different things, we add ’s to each owner.

عندما يمتلك شخصان أو أكثر أشياء مُختلفة، نضيف s' إلى كِلا المالكيْن.

مثال

These are John’s and Rick's bikes.

NOTE:
We use of + noun to show that something belongs to a thing or to an abstract noun.

نستخدم of + noun لإظهار أن شيئا ينتمي إلى شيء أو إلى اسم مجرد.

مثال:

The windows of this house are very big.

نوافذ هذا المنزل كبيرة جدا.
