should/shouldn’t
We use should/shouldn’t + base form:
Should I ask Linda to help me with this?
• to express an opinion. لإبداء رأي
He should be more careful when he drives.
• to make a suggestion. للإقتراح
You should really go to that new restaurant. It’s fantastic!
• to express mild obligation. للتعبير عن إلتزام معتدل =سلس
Students should hand in their homework on time.
We use should + have + past participle:
• to criticise somebody’s behaviour.
We use shouldn’t + have + past participle:
• to express regret about something that happened in the past.
• to criticise something somebody has done.
Note:
• The verb ought to can be used instead of should in all the above cases.
had better
We use had better + base form to give strong advice. It often expresses threat or warning and it’s stronger than should/ ought to. It refers to the present or future, not the past. Its negative form is had better not. In spoken English the short form is commonly used (I’d better, you’d better, etc.).
We use should/shouldn’t + base form:

نستخدم كل من should ثم have ثم التصريف الثالث للفعل (شاذ أو منتظم) لكل من:
• to express regret about something that didn’t happen in the past.
للتعبير عن الندم عن شيء لم يحدث في الماضي.
We should have come home earlier.• to criticise somebody’s behaviour.
لانتقاد سلوك أحدهم.
You should have called me and let me know you weren’t coming.We use shouldn’t + have + past participle:
• to express regret about something that happened in the past.
للتعبير عن الندم عما حدث في الماضي.
I shouldn’t have shouted at Larry today.• to criticise something somebody has done.
لانتقاد ما قد فعله أحدهم.
Danny shouldn’t have told you that. It was supposed to be a secret.Note:

الفعل ought to يُمكن أن يُستخدم بدلا من should في كل الحالات السابق ذكرها.
e.g. You ought to have let me know you weren’t coming.had better
