Making comparisons
• We usually make comparative and superlative adverbs with more and the most.
للتفضيل the most carefully
عادة نصيغ ظروف المقارنة والفضيل مع more وthe most.
carefully ➤ للمقارنة more carefully, للتفضيل the most carefully
• With these adverbs we add -er and the -est.
مثال:
fast➤ للمقارنة faster,
للتفضيل the fastest
للتفضيل the fastest
• These adverbs are irregular.
الأمثلة:
well➤ للمقارنة better, للتفضيل the best
badly➤ للمقارنة worse, للتفضيل the worst
little ➤للمقارنة (determiner) less, للتفضيل the least
Use الاستخدام
• Less is the opposite of more.
less تعني أقل و هي عكس more
مثال:
Animals are less intelligent than humans.
(= Humans are more intelligent than animals.)
الحيوانات أقل ذكاءً من البشر.
(= البشر أكثر ذكاءً من الحيوانات).
• We use
نستخدم الصيغة التالية
as … as
لنقول أن شيئين متشابهين.
to say two things are the same.
مثال:
Rats are as clever as cats.
الفئران ذكية مثل القطط.
نستخدم الصيغة التالية:
not as … as
أو
not so ... as
to say that the second person or thing is more … than the first one.
لقول أن الشخص أو الشيء الثاني أكثر (صفة) من الشخص الأول.
مثال:
Animals aren’t as intelligent as humans.
( = Humans are more intelligent than animals.)
( = Humans are more intelligent than animals.)
الحيوانات ليست ذكية مثل البشر.
(= البشر أكثر ذكاءً من الحيوانات).
• We use

الأمثلة:
The faster I run, the more tired I feel.
كلما أسرع في الجري، كلما شعرت بالتعب.
The harder you study, the better your results.
كلما درستَ بجد، كانت نتائجك أفضل.
