Past and Present Participial Adjectives
The past participle and the present participle forms of a verb can be used as adjectives.
Past participles generally end in -ed (but can also end in -d, -t, -en, or -n) and describe how
someone feels.
يمكن استخدام اسم الفاعل واسم المفعول به كـ صفات.
past participle = اسم المفعول به ( ينتهي بـ ed أو التصريف الثالث للافعال الشاذة)
و present participial = اسم الفاعل ( ينتهي بـ ing )
وكل من اسم الفاعل واسم المفعول به يصف مشاعر احد ما.
مثال:
The mice were frightened of the cat.
كانت الفئران مرعوبة من القطة.
Present participles always end in -ing and describe what causes the feeling.
اسماء الفاعل دائما تنتهي بـ ing وتصف ما الذي يسبب هذه المشاعر.
The cat was frightening.
كانت القطة مخيفة.
Participial adjectives can appear after be or in front of nouns.
تظهر صفات اسم الفاعل واسم المفعول به بعد ( فعل be أي فعل يكون) أو قبل الاسماء.
الأمثلة:
My grandfather’s stories about his childhood are amusing.
قصص جدي عن طفولته مسلية.
My grandfather tells amusing stories about his childhood.
