Intensifiers = عبارات التوكيد
We use adverbs like very, quite, really, pretty, and extremely
to make adjectives stronger.
These adverbs are normally placed before the adjective.
نستخدم ظروف الحال مثل:
very, quite, really, pretty, extremely
لجعل الصفات أقوى.
لذلك تُسمـى مُشددات أو مُكثفات.
معانيها تقريباً متشابهة.
توضع هذه الظروف عادة قبل الصفة.
الأمثلة:
It’s a very interesting exhibit.It’s a really interesting exhibit.
It’s quite an interesting exhibit.
كل الجُمل السابقة تعني إنه معرض مثير للاهتمام جداً.
Everyone was pretty excited.
Everyone was extremely excited.
Everyone was quite excited.
كل الجُمل السابقة تعني أن الجميع متحمس جداً.
Note: مُلاحظة
When there is a singular noun, quite goes before the article.
بخصوص ظرف الحال quite
فإنه يأتي قبل أداة التنكير
عندما يكون الاسم مفرد.
Intensifiers with Strong Adjectives
المُشددات مع الصفات القوية.
Strong adjectives are words like:
الصفات القوية هي مثل الكلمات التالية:-
enormous; huge = very big
brilliant = very clever
excellent; wonderful; great = very good
fantastic; amazing; awesome = very good
tiny = very small
certain = very sure
awful; terrible = very bad
delicious = very tasty
tiny = very small
certain = very sure
awful; terrible = very bad
delicious = very tasty
We do not use very with strong adjectives.
مُلاحظة بخصوص كلمة التشديد very
أننا لا نستخدمها مع الصفات القوية.
We can use adverbs like
وبدلا من very يُمكننا أن نستخدم مع الصفات القوية ظروف حال مثل:-
absolutely, completely, totally, really, pretty, and quite.
The cake is very tasty.
الكعكة لذيذة جدا.
Are you really sure?
The cake is absolutely delicious.
هل أنت حقا متأكد؟
الكعكة لذيذة للغاية.
Are you totally/quite certain?
هل أنت متأكد تمامًا؟
